Of Christ International; Peru, South America – It should have come as no surprise to me to
learn that my childhood friend Kim Roof and her husband Tom, have also taken
to the mission field, serving in Peru, South America. Kim & Tom are serving with their
family in the nation just to the immediate south of my friends Allan &
Pearl Jackson (mentioned below).
The heart of Kim & Tom's work is in ministering the love of Christ
to the families and children in the inner city slum areas through weekly visitation,
a children's church program in the area of "La Victoria" ('The
Victory', in Spanish) in the inner city area of Lima, the inauguration of a
preschool in the squatters village of Cieneguilla, the ongoing construction
of a children's camp, Camp Tikva, planting a new outreach church in downtown
Lima, as well as the education and prevention of sexual abuse program
presented with their ministry. -
You can support Kim & Tom with a love offering sent to: Followers of Christ International,
1052 Esther Boulevard, Lima, OH 45805.
Note: To receive a
tax-deductible receipt make checks payable to "Followers of Christ

Fundaci—n Por Amor – Founded by my childhood friend Allan Jackson
and his wife Pearl, this foundations primary objective is to seek out and
care for needy children in Ecuador who are not receiving basic needs,
schooling and medical attention.
A primary emphasis is in placing orphaned and abandoned children into
loving homes. Fundacion Por Amor seeks to bring hope, allowing young minds to
focus less on survival; helping them see past the physical, finding true
hope, faith and love in our true Father and Family. The initial goals of the Green Mountain (Montanita Verde,
in Spanish) project include the provision of two 15-child homes, a small shop,
farm (animals, garden) and one Basketball court in the country setting of San
Lorenzo District, ½ hour from Manta, Ecuador, South America. |

VIETNAMDOGTAGS.COM - Join in supporting Stacey Hansen in her quest to return
over 850 military identification tags (often called "dog tags")
recovered from Vietnam and various sources, to their rightful owners or
family members of the Vietnam veterans to whom they belonged. Friends, these are precious keepsakes that
need to be returned home. Click on the POW/MIA emblem to help Stacey make it
happen. I carry my own dog tags on
my key ring as a reminder, not only of God's grace in returning me home
safely, but also to be mindful of the members of our all-volunteer armed
forces who even know are risking life and limb guarding the gates of freedom. |

Blue Star Moms - is a local support group in the Contra Costa
& Alameda Counties (East of San Francisco, California) of mostly women
who have come together to share their worries, pride, and devotion to their
sons, daughters, and husbands who are serving in the United States Armed
Forces. They support each other when they have questions and concerns, and
they are supporting today's military and veterans through community service
projects. The Blue Star Moms are affiliated with the "Blue Star Mothers
of America, Inc." In WWI, an army captain who had two sons
serving on the front line designed the blue star flag. This flag quickly
became the unofficial symbol of a child in service. Blue Star Service Flags
are available for purchase at the American Legion site emblem.legion.org . |

Chimp Haven - is creating retirement communities and private nature preserves
for chimpanzees who have been either used in biomedical research, performing,
or were unwanted pets. These sanctuaries will provide safety and comfort in
which these chimps may live out the remaining years of their life in
tranquility. So many of these brave and noble creatures have been subjected
to a lifetime of rigor - isn't it about time we show them the respect and
admiration they deserve? Click on the sketch of Gigi at left, to visit this
fascinating site. |

Sacred Stones – How cool would it be to witness the reconstruction of a building that is 800 years old? Very cool – and the Cistercian Trappist monks at the Abbey of New Clairvaux monastery in Vina, California are doing just that. Sacred Stones is a project that will culminate with the complete restoration and rebuilding of a Chapter House from a Cisterian monastery in Ovila, Spain on the monastery premises located in the Sacramento Valley. Click on the picture of the stones to the right to learn more about this fascinating project; click on the name of the abbey above to learn more about the amazing people working on this project. |
